Nh3Nh4 reading super high suddenly Advise pls

hi guys,
need some input pls as to where I might be going wrong.
Tank : 4 x 1.5 x 1.5
Fish : 1 x Aro (10")
1 x Fei Feng
2 x IndoTiger (6")
Filtration : 1) a 2 feet sump filter (Wool + Bio Rings + small amount of Coral Chips)
2) a 3.5 feet OHF with wool filled with Bio Rings
Previous water reading for Nh3/Nh4 was around 1.5ppm (Never had tested 0)
Last WC did about 4 days ago.
For the past week, have been giving feeders more than the usual. Everything gulped up. No dead feeders left in the tank.
Water looks clear fish normal.
Did a water parameter test wow! the result was dark green, almost like blue !
Definitely 5.0ppm above !
Bros... any advise on where I have gone wrong or what might have caused the spike ?
Thanks in advance

What is your pH?? How long has your tank been running?? How much WC did u do??

Tank running 2months+
last WC +/- 40%
>Tank seems to be overloaded also means bio fiotration insufficient. How about nitrite??
>Do you have any readings for nitrite and nitrate ? Monitor those readings. Water qualities and readings are interdependant... based on the information provided by you...
1) If your Ammonia has never been tested 0 since you started = Benificial Bacteria arent fully establish and your tank hasnt gone thru a full nitrogen cycle. ( Basically your tank is not cycled ) - Doing regular water changes while attempting to cycle your tank might be the reason why its taking you so long ( 2 months+) with your live stock to cycle your tank.
Typically Nitrogen cycle involves.. Ammonia Spike first.. then down to 0 .. Nitrite Spike second then down to 0 .. and followed by Nitrate readings.
In your scenerio.. considering how you been doing WCs.. the ammonia spike could possible be coming from the increased feeding. Ammonia comes not just from dead feeders but fish waste (poop) as well.. Organic wastes. = Increase feeding- Increase Ammonia output from fishes.
Dont depend too much on water clarity. Good quality Water is always clear but clear water is not always good... if you know what I mean
At this point... first priority now is to cycle your tank.
>Thanks bro.
ethan, overload in what sense ? Bio overload due to too many fishes ?
Will get a Nitrite / Nitrate test kit update the results here.
In the meantime, is WC the only thing can be done ?
>To deal with the high ammonia readings? yes. Either WC or Ammo lock
Once youre done with the WC, you need to reduce feeding and possiblily use water conditioner like stability ( Seachem) or similar type of instant BB to rapidly cycle your tank since your aro, it and FF are already in the tank.
IMO establish your filteration system first then address the bioload issue; your current ones arent even established/ working effectively yet. You can do more WC once your initial filteration is up and running well ( BB established) while you procure/add more filteration system/media.
>OK, got it.
So course of action for now will be just doing a WC and then reduce feeding.
Change all the wool in the filter, then in the short term, minimize WC.
Have been dosing Instant BB, will cont. do so to established the bio filtration.
>You can use seachem prime to neutralise nitrogen toxic first, and wc to reduce nitrogen toxic level. However, if nitrite is 0 after u check, means either bio filtration insufficient or tank not cycle. Currently, add salt to prevent nitrite toxification.
Sorry for the long reply as im in thailand now.

Sorry for the long reply as im in thailand now. Currently u can get enzyme bb product so that bb can work temporary in case bio filtration is insufficient.
